In The Tyranny of Temperance, MARIS invites the listener to join her on a delicate sonic trip to the darkest caves of the migraine lands. The EP resulted from the research on migraine and voice and serenades the search for a metaphor that truly captures the pain while lamenting the stigmatizing forces this condition brings. This 3 track EP is the follow up to By Virtue Of The Absurd released last fall on W.E.R.F. records. Musically, front woman Mariske Broeckmeyer once again takes you to the far north with clear references to Björk. Scandinavian aesthetics mingle with the cleverness and expression of jazz and the anointing character of melancholic pop.
