Het jeugdige duo SCHNTZL is ongetwijfeld één van de nieuwe vaandeldragers van die spraakmakende ‘new wave of Belgian Jazz’.

Sinds het releasen van hun titelloze debuut eind 2016 speelde de band een indrukwekkend aantal concerten, sierde het o.a. het podium van Gent Jazz Festival en verzorgde het voorprogramma van het populaire Badbadnotgood in het Amsterdamse Paradiso.

Deze gloednieuwe EP ‘paper, wind’ is een tussenstop in de voortdurende zoektocht van pianist Hendrik Lasure (21j) en drummer Casper Van De Velde (22j) naar elkaars klankwereld. Het resultaat is een ontroerende verzameling van melancholische momentopnames, die flirten met minimalisme en subtiele elektro. Voor de liefhebbers van Nils Frahm en zijn Erased Tapes familie.

Het album werd opgenomen door hun vaste sound wizard Koen Gisen (Flying Horseman, Dans Dans en An Pierlé), die tevens grote fan is! Ook Bent Van Looy (Das Pop) toonde zich reeds fan en nodigde SCHNTZL uit voor zijn programma ‘Culture Club’.
