Vitja Pauwels presents his new quartet called Early Life Forms, consisting of Vitja Pauwels (electric, resonator, pedal steel guitar, ...), Frederik Leroux (baritone guitar), Laurens Dierickx (hammond organ) and Casper Van De Velde (drums).

The band played its first concert on stage at BRAND! Festival in Mechelen, accompanied by American guitarist Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, John Zorn, Elvis Costello etc.). The concert was recorded live and will soon be released as an album.

The album and band name, Early Life Forms, refers both to the fact that the songs were performed live for the very first time during the recording of the concert. After a brief introduction to the repertoire during the soundcheck, the band left the music to the moment and the magic of a first encounter.

On the other hand, Early Life Forms stands for something existential, primary, something epic and at the same time youthfully uncomplicated, which Vitja strongly associates with the music.
